The Milky Way Core
20 three minute exposures, Canon 6D, a 17-40mm lens (30 mm) aperture of f5.6
For winter this year I set myself a project of learning to capture the night sky using a star tracker. Challenges like this are a great way to develop new possibilities and opportunities. This image is made up of 20 three minute exposures, captured using my Canon 6D, a 17-40mm lens at a focal length of 30 mm and an aperture of f5.6.
To do this there were a number of challenges to hurdle, like learning how to polar align, learning how to process the images using new techniques and new applications. But I learned a lot and have a new skill to use so the rewards far outweigh the costs.

The cherry on the top, was that my daughter helped me make the image and hung out with me in the cool night air. She learned a little bit of the night sky along the way and how these kinds of images are created,
