The Milky Way Core

20 three minute exposures, Canon 6D, a 17-40mm lens (30 mm) aperture of f5.6

For winter this year I set myself a project of learning to capture the night sky using a star tracker. Challenges like this are a great way to develop new possibilities and opportunities. This image is made up of 20 three minute exposures, captured using my Canon 6D, a 17-40mm lens at a focal length of 30 mm and an aperture of f5.6.

To do this there were a number of challenges to hurdle, like learning how to polar align, learning how to process the images using new techniques and new applications. But I learned a lot and have a new skill to use so the rewards far outweigh the costs.
