NZ Camera
Each member of the PSNZ can submit up to two images, but only one image from each member will make it into the book. So in some ways you can see this as a salon in a book. A time capsule of the photographers, and the subjects that captivated them for this year.
A few months back I was told via email that one of my images had been selected. To know that I made it into the book was great news, but to know that of the two images, that they chose the surrealist based image made it even more special.

Cert in Intermediate Photography (UCol)
We went back to school! Three months of assignments, practical’s and great discussions on photography and art. In some ways it took a long time, in other ways it flew past. What drew me to it you might ask? It wasn’t the learning of new techniques, it was a reset, a chance to look at my process, work on my confidence and try something new. To give myself a chunk of time and go for it.
Exhibition in Woodville
Exhibition in Woodville this month at the Rinitawa Art and History - Woodville gallery. Kelly Taylor Gannaway and I have images in this, so if you have a lazy Sunday and feel like a drive or you are passing through Woodville, stop in and take a look around. The gallery space looks great, thanks to the team there 🙂

We Made It Onto The Frontpage
While driving home to Palmerston North, my watch kept vibrating, I figured it was dropping and then picking up the connection as it does sometimes. When we got home I had messages from what felt like every newspaper in the country. I did probably five interviews by phone and then a few more by email. Then this morning I found out that the image made the front cover of the Dominion Post.

Champion Projected Image at the 2018 PSNZ Central Region Salon
But that’s when the heart whispers, wait for the right pose and then take the photo anyway. Thanks to that tiny whisper, the image went from a nice shot of the sunset, to something far more.
Four Seasons Winner
As part of the celebrations at the Regent Theater (20th anniversary since the refurbishment), a photo competition was held to be used in conjunction with the playing of the Four Seasons by Vivaldi. The subject, to show the Manawatu in four seasons as well. I was fortunate to take out the set of four category (with a nice cash prize)

We had a great opening night at Te Manawa last night to officially open the exhibition. It was great to see everyone come along and enjoy the images and get their take on the exhibition. The exhibition is open until the 12th of June. Here is the article out of today's paper, thanks Carly Thomas from the Manawatu Standard for writing such great article about it.
Winner - AV Salon 2014
To say the last few years have been tumultuous would be an understatement. So when I got a personal invite (and strong hint) to attend the awards ceremony, we thought why not. What a fun weekend and so great to have Kelly there to enjoy it with me.
So Many Ways to Say Hello Exhibition
Occasionally you get an opportunity to be part of something which changes the way you think about your hobby. Something which takes the contributions of a passionate group of people, and turns into a project we couldn’t have envisioned at the start. That is the joy of the project, you start on the journey not really knowing where it will take you. Then as you meet, discuss, and work on the images, the project takes on a life of its own. Thank you to the people who posed in the images, offered their insights and assistance. Together we have made something we can all be proud of.
