RNZAF Facebook Post
Just a quick post today, after an email from the guys on base. Always happy to help out the air force.
2022 SUZUKI EXTREME 4X4 CHALLENGE
We had a great time at the extreme 4x4 challenge today. We could blabber on for a couple of paragraphs about the skill of the drivers and the beautiful weather. But we know you want to see the images. If you are interested in prints send us an email and we can sort it out.
Virginia Lake
This image appears to be captured in a wintry frost, cold and silent, but there is more to see here.
Infrared Photography With an Unconverted Canon 6D
The allure of infrared photography has long captivated me, especially through the masterful black and white works of photography legends. After several unsuccessful attempts, a chance meeting with another infrared photographer in early 2021 reignited my interest. Armed with an old Hoya 720nm filter and a humble Canon 18-55mm kit lens discovered in the depths of my closet, I committed to a four-day experimental shoot, despite the technical challenges that unconverted cameras typically face with infrared photography.
Printing the eclipse
We have all heard it before, that printing is complicated, hard, time consuming, rewarding, and adds a whole new dimension to your images.

We got some great news in the post today, we did it again with one of our images selected for the 2021 Biggin Hill Historic Aircraft Centre RNZAF Ohakea Calendar. Thanks Brendon.
Rime Frost
Photographers all around the world know this moment. The moment when you round a corner, crest a hill or in this case run down the road when you hear your mate call "come see this". That moment when the rest of the world sleeps, and nature shows her beauty to the few that make the effort.
We Made It Onto The Frontpage
While driving home to Palmerston North, my watch kept vibrating, I figured it was dropping and then picking up the connection as it does sometimes. When we got home I had messages from what felt like every newspaper in the country. I did probably five interviews by phone and then a few more by email. Then this morning I found out that the image made the front cover of the Dominion Post.

Hike To Tama Lakes, Tongariro National Park
With one of the last winter storms clearing the Central Plateau, we decided to do the 8 km hike to Tama Lakes in the beautiful Tongariro National Park. Come with us, feel the icy cold winds as we walk through snow showers. This beautiful landscape has to be seen to be believed. Fortunately for you, you won't need thermals on to join us, sit back and enjoy the hike.
Champion Projected Image at the 2018 PSNZ Central Region Salon
But that’s when the heart whispers, wait for the right pose and then take the photo anyway. Thanks to that tiny whisper, the image went from a nice shot of the sunset, to something far more.
Four Seasons Winner
As part of the celebrations at the Regent Theater (20th anniversary since the refurbishment), a photo competition was held to be used in conjunction with the playing of the Four Seasons by Vivaldi. The subject, to show the Manawatu in four seasons as well. I was fortunate to take out the set of four category (with a nice cash prize)

Our very own Kelly Taylor, has just snagged a Highly Commended award in the "Light Up My Night" competition. This digital photography contest, run by the Western Branch of the New Zealand Institute of Architects, is all about capturing the magic of architecture after dark.
