Taputeranga Island
Had a great weekend away in Wellington with the Manawatu Camera Club. This image is from the first morning when the keen got up around 4am to do the Red Rocks 4WD drive track for sunrise.
We were blessed with some beautiful clouds and light, a nice reward for the lack of sleep. The forecast had predicted waves up to 2 metres tall, and turn up they did. In the image you can see the sea spray billowing into the air off the rocks and into the morning light.
Thanks Jim for organising the trip and thanks to Richard Lander, Robert, Lynne, Barry Williams and Helen Johnson for the company.
There are times in your photographic life where the gear, the knowledge, don’t matter as much. Where the person with the cell phone next to you can get a similar shot. But then there are times when the research helps. Where technique matters and where local knowledge pays off. When combined, all of these together can make that once in a life time experience, even better.
